The World Wrestling Federation was started in the 1960s as the WorldWide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) by Vince McMahon.In the early 1980s Vince's son,Vince McMahon Jr,renamed it WWE.The sport changed and became widely popular.Characters such as Hulk Hogan became household names,attracting huge crowds to live matches and millions of followers via TV.The WWF is now known as WWE®,World Wrestling Entertainment,Inc.The two biggest events in the WWE calendar are Wrestle Mania,which decides the world champions,and the Royal Rumble.The first WWF Wrestle Mania was at Madison Square Garden on 31 March 1985.
