The first Modern Olympics in 1896 should have included sailing,but the races could not be held because of bad weather.Sailing was included for the first time four years later in Paris and has been a full Olympic sport since 1908.Board sailing made its debut in 1988.Men and women have competed together in sailing events over the years,but in 1988 women had events of their own.Until the 2000 Olympics, sailing was known as yachting.
