Muhammad Ali was born Cassius Clay in Louisville,Kentucky in 1942.He burst on to the boxing scene at the 1960 Rome Olympics where he took the light heavyweight gold medal.In 1964,aged 22,he won his first world heavyweight title by defeating Sonny Liston.He beat George Foreman ten years later to become only the second man to regain his title.In 1978,at the age of 36,he beat Leon Spinks to become the first man to win the title a third time.He lost his last world title fight to Larry Holmes in 1980.
